Support the developer
ZohaNur's core is free and stays free. If the apps benefit you and you want to support the person building them, here is how — honestly framed.
The essentials of ZohaNur are free and will stay free. The project's income comes from optional premium features. Beyond that, some people ask how they can support the work directly. This page answers that honestly.
What this is, and what it is not#
Support given here goes to the developer — one person building and maintaining four apps in Coimbatore, alongside full-time work and a family. It helps pay for the time, the servers, the test devices, and the scholarly review of religious content, and it supports his household.
This is not charity, and it is not sadaqah to an institution. ZohaNur is not a registered charity or trust. If you choose to support it, you are supporting an independent developer whose work you find beneficial — the same way people support open-source maintainers and independent creators. That is a good and honest thing to do, and it is described here as exactly what it is.
This is not zakat, and zakat is not accepted. Zakat belongs to the eight categories named in Surah at-Tawbah 9:60, and a software developer's business is not among them. Use the zakat calculator to work out what you owe, then give it to those entitled to it.
Before you give#
- Do not give what you need. No one should tighten their household to support an app. The best way to support ZohaNur at no cost is simply to use it.
- Give to the needy first. If you know of a family in need, they come before this project. That is the correct order, and saying so matters more than the project's costs.
- If you want to support the project and also receive something, buying premium does both.
How to support#
Payment details will be published here once accounts are live. Until then, write to [email protected].
Ways to help that cost nothing#
- Report mistakes in the religious content — the most valuable message anyone can send. A corrected translation or grading benefits every future user.
- Tell someone who would benefit from the app.
- Translate — Tamil, Urdu, Malayalam, Arabic. Write to [email protected].
- Review honestly on the Play Store, so the apps reach people searching.
- Make du'a for the work and for those who use it.
