Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
Is ZohaNur free?#
The core of every app — Quran, hadith, prayer times, qibla, adhkar, and the other essentials of daily worship — is free, permanently. It will never move behind a paywall. A set of optional premium features exists alongside it. Exactly what is free and what is paid →
How do you make money from it?#
From optional premium features, sold through Google Play. Not from advertising, and not from your data — there is none of either. Premium revenue is what sustains the project and its developer. The full accounting →
Do I need an internet connection?#
Only for first-time downloads and the AI assistant. The Quran, hadith, prayer times, qibla, adhkar and everything else work with no connection at all.
Why are there four separate apps?#
So you can install only what you need. A phone with limited storage should not have to carry a hadith library to get prayer times. Which one should I install? →
Which madhab does ZohaNur follow?#
None exclusively. Where practice differs — the asr time most visibly — the app offers the options and lets you choose, rather than deciding for you.
Can I trust the hadith gradings?#
Gradings are taken from the scholars associated with each collection and are shown alongside each narration rather than hidden. Scholars differ, and ZohaNur shows that rather than picking a winner. If you find one that looks wrong, please report it. How grading works →
Is the AI assistant a mufti?#
No, and it must not be treated as one. It is a language model, it can be confidently wrong about religion, and no ruling should be acted on because it said so. What it is and is not →
Can I give my zakat to ZohaNur?#
No. Zakat belongs to the categories named in Surah at-Tawbah 9:60, and this project is not among them. Give it to those entitled to it. Sadaqah is welcome.
Does ZohaNur know what I read?#
No. Reading position, habits, counts and cycle entries never leave your phone. There is no account and no server holding any of it. Privacy policy →
Is there an iPhone version?#
Not yet. It is on the roadmap but it is not close.
Which languages are supported?#
English is complete. Tamil content exists across much of the app and is being finished. Other languages depend on volunteers — offers welcome.
